Mentorship is the key to success. Our program is designed to guide and support aspiring nurse anesthetists, pairing them with experienced CRNAs or RRNAs to help them achieve academic and professional excellence.

The 8-Week Mentorship Pilot Program, exclusive to SFNA members, is designed to support aspiring nurse anesthetists in their academic and professional journeys. Participants are paired with experienced CRNAs or RRNAs who provide valuable guidance, resources, and structured mentorship throughout the program.

CALLING ALL MENTORS

Expectations of Mentors:

  • Commitment: Must be a CRNA or RRNA who can dedicate yourself to mentoring for the full 8-week program. Your guidance is crucial to helping mentees reach their potential.

  • Active Engagement: Meet biweekly with your assigned mentees, sharing your knowledge and supporting them as they navigate their journey.

  • Feedback: Provide valuable feedback to your mentees and participate in periodic surveys to help us continually improve the program.

CALLING ALL MENTEES

The journey to becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is challenging, but it’s also an incredible opportunity for growth with the right support, and guidance.

​

Expectations of Mentees:

  • Commitment: Must be a RN and SFNA member who can fully commit to the 8-week mentorship program, dedicating your time and effort to your personal and professional development.

  • Active Participation: Attend all biweekly sessions, actively engage in discussions, and complete any preparatory materials or assignments.

  • Feedback: Provide thoughtful and constructive feedback through periodic surveys to refine and improve the program.

Mentee Benefits:

  • Personalized Guidance: Receive tailored advice from experienced CRNAs who have been where you are. 

  • Career Advancement: Develop the tools and strategies to navigate the CRNA application process successfully.

 MENTORSHIP PILOT PROGRAM TENTATIVE OUTLINE

Session 1: Kickoff and Career Planning week before start 

  • Introduction to the program and mentors

  • Discuss individual career goals and create a personalized action plan

  • Overview of the CRNA career pathway, including prerequisites and application steps

 

Session 2: Academic/Clinical 

  • Strategies for success in prerequisite courses and crna school

  • Clinical preparation: gaining relevant experience and skills

  • Balancing both academic and clinical responsibilities along with life

 

Session 3: Application/Financial

  • Preparing a strong application: CV, personal statement, and references

  • Initial review and feedback on application materials

  • Personal experiences and strategies for managing finances during CRNA school

Session 4: Interview Prep/Tips

  • Interview tips and strategies

  • Body language and professional image

  • Mock interview practice with feedback

​

Session 5: Wellness/Final Preparation

  • Wellness experiences and strategies for managing stress and maintaining mental health

  • Final preparation for interviews and application submission

  • Recap and final Q&A, addressing any remaining questions or concerns
